GOOGLE WILL DEBUT HIS NEW OS ANDROMEDA WITH PIXEL 3 LAPTOP IN 2017

Android + Chrome = Andromeda - merged OS

 

Google is working on a new OS called Andromeda, which will be a fusion of Chrome OS and Android and this could make an appearance on the Pixel 3 laptop which launches in 2017. Google has already hinted at some serious hardware plans with the upcoming October 4 ‘Made by Google’ event. The company is reportedly preparing two new Android smartphones, a 4K Chromecast, a home WiFi router dubbed Google WiFi. While these hardware products are certain to make an appearance on October 4, the latest rumor hints that Android and Chrome OS are set to merge.

Google, has been long rumored to be working on combining the core assets of Android and Chrome for a unified OS experience. Microsoft has adopted the strategy with its Windows 10 and Apple’s macOS on desktop and iOS on mobile share a lot with the Continuity features. Now Google seems to be planning a new OS combining Chrome and Android code named ‘Andromeda’. Google is testing Andromeda on an ultra-thin laptop known internally as Bison, which will be known as Pixel 3 when it launches. Since Sundar Pichai took over as Google CEO, he has been constantly talking about efforts to bring Android features like Google Play Store to Chrome OS and the new initiative to merge both the OS seems valid.
Google reports that Bison will run Android and not Chrome OS leading to culmination of a new platform altogether. Bison is reportedly an ultra-thin convertible laptop like Lenovo’s Yoga series. The device reportedly features a 12.3-inch display and will be powered by Intel’s Core m series processor. With seventh generation processors, Intel has almost killed m series by keeping only m7 in the offering. So expect the processor to upgrade from Core m to Core i processor. The device is reported to come with 32 or 128GB storage and two variants offering 8 or 16GB RAM. Google’s Bison features a backlit keyboard and glass trackpad with force detection similar to Apple’s latest MacBook. Google aims to make the device less than 10 mm thick, which should undercut every other tablet offering in the market. Google is reportedly planning to launch this device in Q3 2017.
