Google Authenticator 4.74 With In-App Scanner Feature Released

At a distance of several months from the previous update, Google Authenticator has official released a new version, identified as 4.74, that finally solves a lot of problems due to the authentication in two steps with this application, making the interface more clear and intuitive, a new dark mode, and finally, a new feature to scan codes through the camera.

As you can see from these screenshots, the look is finally passed to all the Material Design, especially the buttons and the blue background, is characteristic of the latest guidelines of Google. The code generator has undergone substantial changes, the color of the numbers was changed, the bottom right has been added to the button floating to add other codes, and even more important, the codes generated now have a little space in the middle to make them easier to distinguish.

Probably the best part is the addition of a FAB (floating action button) for adding new accounts / code generators to the list. Previous versions required users to tap on the overflow menu and tap again to begin adding an account, and even after that, another another step was required to choose between manual entry and scanning a QR code. The FAB cuts out the middle step entirely and simply raises up a pair of options from the bottom of the screen instead of changing views entirely. It's faster and requires one less app to be installed. There's also a new welcome screen to greet users and explain what Authenticator is for and how to use it.
